Clutter Control
If you’re suffering from clutter overload, you’ll need to have some clutter control. Having too much stuff surrounding every aspect of your life can be very stressful. It may be that you can’t find anything or are tripping over items left on the floor. Having a clutter filled home or office is no way to live, and requires you to implement some clutter control as soon as possible.
The first thing you’ll need to do is probably the most obvious, but most difficult. You need to weed through your belongings and decide what to get rid of. Some people have a hard time letting go of their possessions. If you’re having this problem, you’ll need to consider the cost of clutter versus the benefits of clutter control.
One way that you can do some immediate clutter control is to separate items by their degree of importance. There should be a “must keep” pile, a “maybe” pile, and a “to go” pile.
Surely there are some things you can get rid of right away. These items should be donated or thrown away. Other items will be things that you will absolutely not part with. These are basically your prized possessions. By all means, don’t get rid of things that mean a lot to you just as a means of clutter control!
You may also have a pile that you’re unsure of. These may be things you use occasionally or have some kind of sentimental attachment to. It’s ok if you don’t want to get rid of these items right away for your clutter control. Put them in a box and write the date on it. If you don’t touch it for a year, get rid of it.
This can seem like a scary thing to do. Just realize that if you haven’t needed the items for a full year, through all of the seasons it is unlikely that you’ll ever need it again.
Once you’ve weeded through your belongings, you’ll be amazed at how much clutter control you’ve accomplished. Not only will you be able to move around your home or office with ease, but your whole life will be transformed. Clutter control gives you the confidence you need when you present your space to others.
